Explanation
马上 ("at once, right away")
means 很快地 (very quickly, immediately). “马上” indicates that something is about to happen or happens right after some other event. It is usually followed by the adverb “就”. A time expression cannot be placed before “马上”: you cannot say *你等一下,她八点半马上来.
顿时 ("instantly, all at once")
“顿时” means 立刻 (immediately) and is used only to recount events that happened in the past. It serves as an adverbial and does not take “地”.
Comparing “顿时” and “立刻”: “顿时” can only be used to recount actions that already happened in the past, while “立刻” has no such restriction. “顿时” is only used in declarative sentences and cannot be used in imperative sentences; “立刻” is used in declarative sentences and can also be used in imperative sentences.
一下子 ("suddenly, quickly, in a flash")
“一下子” expresses that an action happens or is completed very quickly; it also expresses that a phenomenon appears very abruptly. It serves as an adverbial for verbs and adjectives.
渐渐 ("gradually")
indicates that the degree or quantity increases or decreases slowly over time; used in writing. A. 渐渐(地)+ V: the verb cannot be followed by “着” or “过”. B. 渐渐(地)+ adjective: the adjective is usually followed by “了”, “起来”, “下去”...
逐渐 ("gradually")
